SGA President On New School Year

By: Rebecca Reese, Editor in Chief

With a new year come new faces in new roles.

Cassie Helmar is a senior Electronic Journalism Arts major taking on her first year as the Student Government Association (SGA) president.

Looking to the new year, Helmar said she is excited to strengthen the connection between SGA and the Campus Activities Board. She said, “…maybe seeing if we can bring more events to campus. I am very hopeful and very open minded to ideas!”

Though Helmar is only one person, she wants to bring a new perspective to the conversation and encourages every student to do the same.

She said, “I just hope to connect with as many people as I can this year and hope to get more concerns voiced and bring the change that the student body wants, whatever it may be.”

The first SGA meeting of the 2016-17 year will be held on Wednesday, August 31 at 8 p.m. in ASAC 100.
